Legend of Zelda Pumpkinby ~Elitelink

O_o wow, it's been a looong time...years, even.

Anyway, this was the pumpkin I carved for the Anime News Network Contest 2009. No word yet on the status of the judging but I heard there were over 70 entries. >_<! Fingers crossed!

Whole process took about 18 hours. The first 5 or so were prepping the pumpkin and the picture. Finished carving at 3:47am, Nov 1. Hand hurt >_o. To me 18 hours seems like a long time for what the final product ended up being was but it's only my first attempt at any kind of detail pumpkin work.

I've seen pictures of pretty elaborate pumpkins, but this is simply the best. It must be pretty difficult to shade things on a pumpkin. The closest I've ever come to anything like this was just a simple outline...

^_^ Thank you! Yeah, to get the lighter shades you need to scrape more of the pumpkin away. It was a challenge keeping everything consistent.
